These terms are written to be readable, but they are still a legal agreement. Please review them carefully before using CLTLease.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of CLTLease.com, including property pages, renter reviews, community content, newsletters, account features, and related tools. By using CLTLease, you agree to these terms and to any policies referenced here.
If you use CLTLease on behalf of a company, property owner, landlord, management company, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
2. What CLTLease does
CLTLease is an independent Charlotte renter information platform. We publish renter-submitted reviews, community discussions, property information, management company pages, educational lease resources, and related content designed to help renters research housing decisions.
CLTLease is not a law firm, tenant union, broker, property manager, landlord, or government agency. Content on the site is informational only and should not be treated as legal, financial, housing, or professional advice.
3. Accounts and email updates
You may browse much of CLTLease without creating an account. If you create an account, you must provide accurate information, keep your login credentials secure, and notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Account signup may include an option to receive CLTLease email updates. You can unsubscribe from marketing or newsletter emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails. We may still send account, security, moderation, or service-related emails when necessary.
4. Reviews, posts, and user content
You are responsible for any review, reply, report, message, or other content you submit. Reviews should reflect your genuine experience or good-faith knowledge and should not include fabricated claims, threats, spam, private personal information, discriminatory content, or content you do not have the right to share.
We may review, edit, decline, remove, label, or limit distribution of content at our discretion, including when content appears unlawful, abusive, promotional, off-topic, unverifiable, privacy-invasive, or inconsistent with the purpose of CLTLease.
By submitting content, you grant CLTLease a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, display, distribute, excerpt, moderate, and use that content in connection with operating, improving, and promoting CLTLease.
5. Anonymity and verification
CLTLease is designed to let renters share information with privacy. Public review names may be anonymous, pseudonymous, or system-generated. Creating an account does not require your public review identity to match your account name.
We may use technical signals, moderation review, documentation, or other reasonable methods to reduce spam, duplicate submissions, or abuse. A verification label does not guarantee that every statement in a review is complete, current, or accurate.
6. Property owner and management company responses
Property owners, landlords, and management companies may contact us about claimed inaccuracies, policy violations, or requests to respond. We may ask for information that helps us evaluate the request.
We do not remove reviews simply because they are negative. We may remove or revise content when it violates these terms, creates a legal or safety concern, contains private information, or cannot reasonably remain on the platform.
7. Prohibited conduct
You may not use CLTLease to harass people, impersonate another person or organization, submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings, scrape or bulk-copy site content without permission, bypass security measures, interfere with site operation, or use the platform for unlawful purposes.
You may not submit sensitive personal information about others, including Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, private phone numbers, private email addresses, government ID numbers, or details that create a safety risk.
8. Third-party services and links
CLTLease may link to property websites, public records, payment processors, analytics services, email providers, mapping tools, or other third-party services. Those services are controlled by their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party websites, listings, claims, fees, leases, communications, or transactions.
9. Disclaimers
CLTLease is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that site content is complete, accurate, current, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for your specific situation.
Rental laws, property conditions, fees, ownership, management practices, and community experiences can change quickly. You should independently verify important information before signing a lease, paying money, making a housing decision, or taking legal action.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CLTLease and Chesstyle.net, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, housing decisions, lease outcomes, disputes, or reliance on user-generated content.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims relating to CLTLease will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid to use CLTLease in the three months before the claim or $100.
11. Changes, suspension, and termination
We may change CLTLease, these terms, or related policies over time. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated terms available.
We may suspend or terminate access to CLTLease if we believe a user has violated these terms, created risk for the platform or others, or used the service in a way that is inconsistent with its purpose.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina unless applicable law requires a different forum.
